Terms of Service

SimpliExpense · Last updated October 2, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Iron Foundry LLC ("Iron Foundry," "we," "us") governing your use of the SimpliExpense iOS app, the SimpliExpense web app and team portal at simpliexpense.app, and related services (together, the "Service"). By creating an account, subscribing, or otherwise using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you use the Service on behalf of a company or team, you confirm you are authorized to bind it.

1. The Service

SimpliExpense helps you track business mileage, capture receipts, and produce expense reports. The core app works offline on your device. Optional features include cloud sync and backup, a web app, and Team features such as submitting reports for approval, manager review, and payables exports.

2. Accounts

An account is optional for the core app and required for sync and Team features. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for keeping your sign-in credentials secure, and for activity under your account. You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to use the Service. You can delete your account at any time from the app (Settings → Delete account); a team owner with other active members must first transfer ownership or remove those members.

3. SimpliExpense Pro (iOS)

SimpliExpense Pro is offered as an in-app subscription or purchase through the Apple App Store. Apple processes the payment, and Apple's terms, including the Apple Media Services Terms and the standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA), govern those purchases, including billing, renewal, cancellation, and refunds. Manage or cancel an Apple subscription in your Apple ID settings. Team members added to a paid team receive Pro features while they remain on that team.

4. Team subscriptions (web, billed through Stripe)

5. Your data

You own the data you enter or capture in SimpliExpense, including your drives, expenses, receipts, and reports. You give us a limited license to host, process, and transmit that data solely to operate the Service for you (for example, syncing between your devices or showing a submitted report to your approvers).

No data hostage. You can always view, edit, and export the records you have already created, whether or not you have a paid plan. Ending or downgrading a subscription never deletes your data; it only stops access to paid features such as adding paid seats. How we handle your data is described in the Privacy Policy.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to: use the Service for unlawful purposes or to submit false or fraudulent expense information; attempt to access another user's or team's data; probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service or bypass its security or rate limits; interfere with or disrupt the Service; reverse engineer the app except as law permits; or resell the Service. We may suspend or terminate access that violates these Terms or puts the Service or other users at risk.

7. Not tax, legal, or accounting advice

SimpliExpense is a record-keeping tool. It is not tax, legal, or accounting advice, and a report generated by the app is not a guarantee of acceptance by the IRS or any other authority. Reports are designed around the information the IRS expects for mileage and expense substantiation, but you are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of your records, for recording the business purpose of each item, for keeping the documentation tax law requires, and for the positions you take on any return. Mileage rates and values shown are informational. Consult a qualified tax professional for advice about your situation.

8. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties, including Apple, Stripe (payments), and infrastructure and email providers listed in our Privacy Policy. Their services are governed by their own terms, and we are not responsible for them.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IRON FOUNDRY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, THAT DRIVE DETECTION OR RECEIPT TEXT RECOGNITION WILL BE COMPLETE OR ACCURATE, OR THAT ANY DATA WILL NEVER BE LOST. KEEP YOUR OWN BACKUPS OF IMPORTANT RECORDS.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IRON FOUNDRY WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, OR FOR ANY TAX, PENALTY, OR INTEREST ASSESSED AGAINST YOU, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AND (B) US$50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Courts located in South Carolina have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms, except where applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.

12. Changes to these Terms or the Service

We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material we will post the new version here with a new "last updated" date and, for paid subscribers, give notice before it applies to your next renewal. Continuing to use the Service after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms. We may also modify or discontinue features, and will give reasonable notice where a change materially reduces what a paid plan provides.

13. General

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Iron Foundry about the Service. If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger or sale of the business.
